Using TFR
The TFR package has been developed with the cooperation and assistance of an international
team of speech scientists, clinicians, linguists, and engineers. Much effort has
been directed to incorporating features that let our customers do what they want,
the way they want to do it. Our users include audio engineers, audiologists, phoneticians,
speech-language pathologists, speech scientists, wildlife biologists and zoologists,
and many others who work with speech and other complex acoustic signals.
Not surprisingly, applications are diverse, including studies of the acoustical
characteristics of a wide range of speech sounds; studies of speech disorders;
analyses of bird song, bat calls and other animal sounds; the recording and editing
of speech for human-machine interfaces; the development of speech intelligibility
tests; evaluations of the effects that devices such as signal processing hearing
aids and telecommunication channels have on speech and other acoustic signals;
studies of the acoustic details of complex non-speech signals; and so on.
