PROTRAIN Features
Immediate feedback in real time enhances the client's ability to make adjustments
to the way he or she speaks, and saves you valuable clinic time. On-line assessment
parameters are available throughout the program, allowing you to take baseline
measures and objectively track treatment progress as the individual begins to
remediate his or her speech errors. The program allows you to sample signals with
CD quality and offers a range of analysis techniques with which to analyze and
display your signals. Displays include:
- Waveform
- Spectrogram
- Pitch (FO) track
- Formant track
- Intensity track
- Phonetogram
- Vowel space (F1/F2 space)
- Spectrum
Conventional voice analysis methods often fail to work correctly with atypical
voices. ProTrain uses advanced analysis methods so that measures are as accurate
as possible, even with such atypical voices. Here are some sample displays available
in PROTRAIN:
The ProTrain system provides real-time, on-screen displays of key voice characteristics
that clients can use to target and change aspects of their speech.
Robust real-time displays allow you to view:
- Client Utterance alone
- Client Utterance and target for comparison
Powerful audio and visual feedback allows you to:
- Replay client and target utterances in rapid sequence
- Replay multiple repetitions to hear differences seen in the displays
- Zoom into displays to examine and compare measures of specific segments
in detail
- Facilitate generalization by helping speakers make judgements regarding
the accuracy of their speech
Basic statistical measurements, including the jitter and shimmer measures of variation
in voice fundamental frequency, are available throughout the program and are specific
to the display type you have selected. This information may be exported to spreadsheet
and word processing software for report preparation and further analysis. In this
way, ProTrain facilitates keeping accurate, objective progress records and enables
you to quickly and easily incorporate this information into reports.
ProTrain's flexible set-up system allows you to specify training sessions for
your clients using prerecorded target sounds. You can select which target signals
you would like your client to use during any given treatment session and these
can easily be modified as the client progresses. Clients can also use ProTrain
on their own to supplement within-clinic therapy and to advance more rapidly,
using sessions you have created to suit the client's individual needs.
Even young children can use appropriate visual displays
of their speech sounds to shape their utterances to be more like displays of target
(correct) sounds.
